The Kiwanis Club of East York is pleased to play a role in supporting Rosalie Hall.
Our club started out by gifting Mother’s Day packages to the young mothers. We soon learned that providing diapers for a period of six months would be another way that we could help.
President David Barker and Pat Lawrance would shop for the diapers and personally deliver them each month to Rosalie Hall. Through their visits they met with Donations Volunteer Crystal Rees. As their visits progressed through the summer, various other club members would take turns joining them. With each visit they learned a little more about the work that is being done here.
We were greeted by the manager and thanked for our generous supplies.
Rosalie Hall has been serving Toronto communities since 1914. They work with young families from Scarborough and across the Toronto Region. They are an accredited children’s mental health agency working to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting youth ages 12-25 and their families. They also provide a whole host of services which include on-line services, in-person school (TDSB & TCDSB), Live-in Services, a food cupboard, baby supplies, community counselling, mental health therapy and Early Learning and Child Care Centre. Rosalie Hall has also extended its partnership with youth serving organizations across Toronto.
Our club is hoping to continue our support for this worthwhile organization. We are currently looking for gently used winter clothing and small new items to be used as Bingo prizes for their weekly Bingos. We are also collecting new items from Santa for mothers and babies. If you can help, please contact Deirdre Barker [email protected]
